Apple patent uses 3-D gestures to control an iPad

A patent created by Apple lets the consumer manipulate and control features on the display such as icons, texts, images, and media files. Users would perform these gestures through the device's front-facing camera. The patent already has a number pre-defined gestures, such as ones for facial recognition, a selection gesture and a pointing gesture. Technology is simply amazing!! It's growing at a phenomenal pace and things I never thought possible are coming out every day!! It's crazy to think that you could control your phone or tablet from across the room!

Ford vehicles to read your text messages while you drive

Ford is starting to install a new feature in its vehicles that reads text messages aloud. This new feature, aimed at reducing instances of texting and driving, is part of Ford's new voice-activated technology, Sync, and has already been installed in all 2012 models, excluding the Ranger. Several phone apps have created popular solutions, but so far, only a select few manufacturers, including Ford and BMW, have actually integrated it into the actual vehicles. One reason for this is because not all phones have compatible technology (i.e. the iPhone!). I think this is an excellent addition to the technological world. The statistics/data surrounding texting while driving is absolutely tragic. If we can't get people to stop worrying about communication while driving, this is obviously the best solution. I am excited to see how this will work in vehicles. I will probably never drive another Ford in my lifetime, but I'm sure Chevrolet isn't too far behind!!

Apple iPhone 4S pre-sale greatly exceeds expectations!!

Many people predicted the iPhone 5 to be announced at Apple's latest conference. When all that was unveiled was the 4S, they were quick to call it a dud. All cynics were silenced as pre-orders surpassed 1 million as the new phone went on pre-sale, topping the previous 600,000 mark held by the iPhone 4. Could it be Steve Jobs' recent passing? Maybe. But it might be the phone's new superior camera, personal assistant "Siri," or its other numerous upgraded features. I hate to say it, but I don't see the iPhone dropping off any time soon!

Netflix dumps Qwikster, keeps DVD service on main website

Netflix has already scrapped plans for Qwikster. Less than a month after announcing their intent for a separate website for their DVD service, CEO Reed Hastings blogged, "It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs." I know people are upset with Netflix; many of them have either canceled or threatened to cancel their services. I think two websites would have been too confusing for people and they probably would have lost more customers. Netflix is just trying to find a balance between rising costs and keeping clients happy.
